  1. Nothing spectacular, since I only need it for a single-core 2.4GHz P4, but it's either got to have onboard video or an AGP slot. I'm in a rush for it, so if anyone has any ideas, speed is greatly appreciated.

  2. Nice, only thing you might want to look at is a MB that supports Phenom CPUs so you could go quad core down the road. Might not be worth the price to performance though.

I was thinking about that before I ordered, but the price really wasn't there. If it was closer, say...$100 cheaper!...maybe I would have done it. But, with the way I upgrade my components, the Phenom will be selling for $35 by the time I decide to get one LOL

  3. So, I've been running on some of PurSuiT's old gear for quite some time now (so-so 939 mobo with an Athalon X2 4400+, 2GB DDR400, 7950GT video), and I figured it's about time I upgrade.

Now, I'm trying to keep the price around 500, since I really don't have much to spend. Here's what I've got for my new setup...

    Motherboard - ASUS M2R32-MVP

    CPU - Athalon 64 X2 4600+

    Cooler - ZEROtherm BTF90

    RAM - 4GB WINTEC AMPX (DDR2 800

    Video - Radeon HD 3870 512MB GDDR3

Definitely not top-of-the-line gear, but it's better than what I've got right now, and it's got plenty of room for upgrades in the future...

  4. only if i can use something like a barret .50 cal :)

Nothing that we play with really looks like a .50 cal, but I've got a pistol that I strap onto my leg when I take this thing out! It's too long to try and turn while sniping, so a backup is almost an absolute must!

I've got my DirecTV remote sitting next to it, since it's hard to gauge the length just from a picture.

  5. We all have our own gear already, but at least 4 of us have extra equipment as well, just in case we get someone with the itch to play that doesn't know if the itch will stick. I can almost guarantee that it will stick, though...Very addictive, fast-paced adrenaline rush!

I believe that we've got a total of 4 extra sets right now that we bring with us.

  6. Been fiddling with the AoC beta with Shaggy, and I've got to say that I like what I see so far. Though it's buggy in parts (as beta's are), the battle mechanics are definitely up my alley! Very unique!

Environment seems to be most like Vanguard, if I had to make comparisons. Equipment is very nice, giving overview stats much like most of the other MMO's. Skill/Feat tree is like WoW or Vanguard, though I'm not far enough to visit any kind of class trainer yet.

Character creation is very in-depth, giving an almost unlimited number of facial and body combinations (much more detailed than City of Heroes or EQ could ever dream of). Story is interesting so far, and talking with NPC's takes on a cut-scene-like sequence that gives you several possible conversation choices at times...Think of those old "Choose Your Own Adventure" books you used to read as a kid...

All-in-all I think it's going to be a very good game. I believe that beta has a 13-level cap, so there's no chance on testing any kind of end-game content (not to mention the fact that the game is due to release in just over 2 weeks), but I'm looking forward to playing it!

  7. I had WAR pre-ordered, but after they pushed the release date out for the 4th time, I canceled it. I loved DAoC when it was in it's hay-day, and played it for 4+ years, which is why I was looking forward to Warhammer, but I've lost my faith...Might look at The Agency, since it does seem to be a really nice change in pace for the MMO genre.
