I used to love BF2 now with the friggn massive power of the support the non chuckable c4 and the God Dang john elway throwable nades that go like 200 yards I hate the game. They seriously gimped the foot soldier against veicles and made it almost impossible to advanced on anyone who actualy defends a flag on foot. And this is comming from an experianced player ranked with 1st leutenant 81k Global points.

Pb auto updates. It checks for your version of pb client every time you connect to a server. It does it in the background. And for somereason if it doesnt then you just have to run the pbweb utility and its done in a matter of seconds. Most pb games get multiple updates I think there was just another pb update for BF2 in the last 2 weeks actuly. its supposed to work the same way for the server pb files but half the time in my experiance you have to manualy update it wich can be done right through Rcon.

They realy screwed up Zatar wetlands. You have to click a full mouse pointer to the left to sellect your spawn. Its even worse for the commander. Trying to arty something or drop a supply crate that half the tiem registers somewhere else then you clicked. That and a few other issues there may be a 1.04 with a few quik fixes. That or they will dump it for the expansion. But Im supprized the red tag bug is still there. There is a bug were an member of yourr team will show red on teh radar and in veicles and even show on the opposite teams roster but is still on your team.
Other than that great patch.

Why play the original I dont see anyone bringing the original Doom to lan partys and playing head to head. At least this way everyone is more likely to have the game. IF you play a tourney best play source since im sure half the peopl who have 1.6 probably dont even have it installed anymore and have cs|s

I run BF2 on my 6800 gt with 1152x752@75hz with the highest settings on everything except shadows cuase the diffrence between low shadowing and High is not that much of a diffrence to me but has major fps inprovments on most cards. I also run Antislaising 2x I get like 70-100 fps non stop I have to manualy up the fps cap if I wanted to get higher fps but I dont think its neceessary. Anything around 75 im happy. Of course I also have 2gb 2-3-2-5-1T dualchanel and a 3700+ Sandiego.
BF2 doesnt use much more than a gig of ram I htink they got it locked in the codeing cuase with windows and bf2 running and a few other apps I have only 1.4GB ram used but still have about a 2-300MB Page file going.

I would really like to know what preparations you have for a lan of that size. It will need alot of power and some lil firehall might not be adequate for that kind of power strain. Also what will you be using for the network it will have to handle a good sized load. My research tells me that a lan event stresses out a network like 500 percent more than the average buisnness office load. A simple router will not do.

I have the G4 Ti4600 the 4x card not the 8x. I believe it was the 53.x drivers or somethign like that that made my game or in some rare cases my system crash everytime I luanched into a game that requred 3d acceleration. I only had tried 4 games I assumed it would be the same for all.. Games were RTCW, Enemy Teritory, Need for speed Underground, and the Pain killer demo I think.
One of the things youl notice right off the bat with the new drivers is that they will re organize and modify how the advanced properties of the card look like. But other than that i think i see a performance increase but I wasnt so in depth as to do before and after benchmarking. Sorry.
