  1. let alone buy it from you.

Pursuit is so broke he can't even afford to write a spell check.

Am I supposed to program the spell checker application myself?

Nice editor PurSuiT, too bad I edited it back again.

  2. I personally was not trying to give you a hard time. I think if you sold it as parts to the WNYG's you can get some good loot. I feel bad as evidently you have a money crunch situation. Some of those items would go real quick as parts. Also I am interested in some of the parts I just have no clue how much you would want for any of them.

Cost for parts is what it costs on newegg, times 1.20

    :D

What you need is a what I call a sucker
  3. You can buy an LCD 17" right now off of outpost.com on their sale for $199, if you want to splurge there's a 17" LCD on fatwallet.com forums right now for $250, that has the higher res & refresh rate, so let's say $250.

Motherboard plus CPU for athlon 64 3400+ on outpost.com last time there was a sale was $210 for the combo. (edit: $280 as per pricewatch for a mobo combo + processor for the 939, including fan & cpu, copy & paste: GIGABYTE GA-K8NS-939 & CPU AMD ATHLON 64(939PIN) 3200+ w/fan from PCinfinity.net).

Xblade case, with power supply, $61

    120 GB drive, $59

1 GB Kingston memory going for $66.99 x 2 so ~ $134 right now, outpost.com sale right now

9800 pro video card, $270 brand new

    -----------------

    total cost brand new = 250 + 210 (edited $280) + 61 + 59 + 134 + 270 = ~$1055, which includes all manuals, etc..

Given that the equipment is used, and warranties etc may be lost, as well as original receipts etc you're gonna take a %40 price cut by buying it as-is, even if it's only a month old.

1055 * .60 = ~$633, or $700 given the work putting together etc.., that includes the monitor. Even adding a licensed legitimate version of windows XP pro, tack on another $89, making it $800 being overly generous.

$950 for that system used, you'd have to be a used car salesman to get someone to pay that much that was a fellow computer gamer, when you can get a package deal for Dell with a 19 " LCD and a faster system for cheaper. You might be able to get that price from a non computer person, but this is the wrong forum for that, for what you are trying to sell it for you aren't going to get that here.

    ----------------edit----------------

My bad, didn't see the socket 939 initially. Boost the mobo + processor combo price up to $280, as per pricewatch, so I tacked on $70 for the prices I gave.

  4. Hey was thinking, in case anybody wants to switch servers or wants to log in with a new character, etc., we should have a fairly up to date list. I know only two or three characters on bloodhoof, don't know the rest.

    Currently I have:

    Bloodhoof (carebear):

Zulutu - dwarven hunter, level 13, going mining / engineering

    Jokru - dwarven priest, level 4 :(

    Lightning's Blade (PVP, Alliance):

    Melina - human paladin, level 42, master blacksmith (252) / mining (280)

    Arthas (PVP, Horde):

Shoth - orc war, level 18, mining / blacksmith (up to around 60 each)

Also, if we create our own guild and all that, we should have skillsets listed too, so that we can equip the guild without overlapping abilities.

This way we can pool our resources to help get new people up and running.

    P.S. - I will update thread as I gain levels :P

  5. Chicago (IL) - Gigabyte will announce Friday a graphics card running two graphics processors on one board. According to sources, the SLI card will lift current 3DMark2003 record levels by a significant margin while being priced lower than ATI's and Nvidia's single-GPU high-end cards.

If two graphics cards in one system are too expensive or simply not fast enough, Gigabyte's new 3D1 board may be worth a serious look. Sources told Tom's Hardware Guide, that the company prepares to launch a dual-GPU card Friday, saying that it will "revise the VGA performance ranking".

The card integrates two Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT graphics processors and is the first 6600 GT card on the market to offer a total of 256 MByte DDR 3 memory and 256 Mbit of memory bandwidth, according to the manufacturer. The card is cooled by two on-board fans.

The 3D1's two processors communicate through Nvidia's SLI interface and achieved 14,293 points in 3DMark2003, sources at Gigabyte said. This would not only be almost twice the performance of a regular 6600 GT card, but also more than ATI's Radeon X850 XT Platinum Edition, which achieved in Gigabyte's test environment 13,271 points and Nvidia's GeForce 6800 Ultra, which posted 12,680 points.

While Gigabyte claims that the 3D1 will trump the performance of Radeon X850 XT Platinum Edition and the GeForce 6800 Ultra cards, it says that the card will be offered in combination with the mainboard GA-K8NXP-SLI for less money than ATI's and Nvidia's single-GPU graphics cards alone. These high end cards current carry suggested retail prices between $500 and $600.

Tom's Hardware Guide's test lab staff will run the 3D1 through its benchmark track, as soon as the card becomes available. According to sources, will be available in samples at the end of this month and will be sold as "luxury solution" for gamers by mid of January.

  6. President Bush was visiting a primary school. One of the classes was in the middle of a discussion related to words and their meaning. The teacher asked the president if he would like to lead the discussion of the word "tragedy." So the illustrious leader asked the class for an example of a tragedy.

Little Jimmy stood up and offered, "If my best friend, Johnny, who lives on a farm, were playing in the field and a tractor ran him over and killed him, that would be a tragedy."

"No," said Bush, "that would be an accident."

Little Suzie raised her hand: "If a school bus carrying 50 children drove over a cliff, killing everyone inside, that would be a tragedy."

"I'm afraid not." explained the president. "That's what we would call a great loss."

The room went silent. No other children volunteered. Bush searched the room.

"Isn't there someone here who can give me an example of tragedy?"

Finally at the back of the room little Johnny raised his hand. In a quiet voice he said: "If Air Force One carrying Mr. and Mrs. Bush was struck by a "friendly fire" missile and blown to smithereens, that would be a tragedy."

"That's right!" exclaimed Bush. "Can you tell me why that would be a tragedy?"

"Well," says little Johnny, "it has to be a tragedy, because it certainly wouldn't be a great loss and it probably wouldn't be an accident either."

  7. Woah... 113 db SNR is nuts for a PC sound card!!! Will still probably get some background noise though unless you got a line conditioner.

Bah, this with the ATI all-in-wonder, now I'll need two remotes for my friggin' PC... it will go great along with my other 8 remotes for my TV / stereo / DVD / PS2 / CD-player / VCR / cable box (my tv has two remotes, and so does my stereo)

Dammit I'll need a whole separate drawer for just remotes wtf

The standard Xbox Next will not include a hard drive, which will allow Microsoft to cut costs on this basic unit. Xbox Next HD, as you might imagine, does include a hard drive and will offer increased functionality based on this. Xbox Next PC is, according to the presentation, an entry-level PC that runs Windows and all standard PC software. It also includes CD Burner, Wireless keyboard, mouse and controller and will work best connected to a high-definition TV or PC monitor. Media Center functionality - like movies, music and photos - is also included. The device will also play most available PC games.
