Daughters birthday party is that - if I come down it will be in the evening. Whats your wrap up time usually ? I normally only stay till 11'ish so haven't sat one till the end.
The average wrap up time seems to be between 1 - 2 AM...

That fuel game kinda looks kewl... and it's only $3.74!

WarSpartan,
I usually miss your events, but this time (basement permitting) I will seriously try and make it over there...

WNY Gamers Club May LAN Event
Saturday May 15th, 2010
starting around 2pm
We have spots for 15, so let us know you're coming to guarantee one. There will be the usual munchies, etc... Thanks!
The reason for the extra week is to try and get the basement done and the Wifey will be away for the weekend!! (not that it matters)
The games played might consist of GTA-IV, L4D#, BFBC2, and whatever else we dig up...
Feel free to pass this invite along...

i have so far seen less than impressive reviews on this chip. I do hope that some day I can upgrade my Athlon II for a black edition Phenom with six+ cores, but Honestly I don't know if it would be worth it over getting an 58XX type of video card upgrade.
Either way, based on your previous posts, that your wife would so kick your ass!!

Should of done it a long time ago...

Newegg put a 6/30/2010 release date on their site. Sounds like this is going to happen after Massive LAN.
Massive LAN is 7/9 - 7/11! either that or some overnight shipping action!!!

All in all, I think a good time was had by all!
Who knew that GTA IV would be so hilariously fun! Can't wait to play it in May... It would be awesome to fill a server (the site says it supports 32 players!)
Just ordered a copy from JR.com ($17.99, used Bing Cashback for another 5% off) so it better be good
You probably won't get to play it at Mays' event with your hiatus due to the little one on the way...

Understanding and Choosing the Best SSD. A must read if you are looking at purchasing an SSD.
I remember reading the first version of this article in CPU magazine (I think it was last summer), good to see that it got updated to reflect the newer tech involved!

Can I tell you how excited I am for this event. My wife nags me if I go to a happy hour with free drinks for a hour after work.
geez, then how are you able to game with us for 12 hours... or did you bribe one or more of her GF's to keep her busy for awhile! :groupwavereversed:

@ Altimos
That looks good. Couple of quick thoughts,
1) why not just place the wnygamersclub logo in the middle at the bottom? and not worry about the bottom left?
2) under "what do I get if I show up?" change "bathroom room's" to "lavatory", something like that... or just remove it outright?
Otherwise, looks good! (simple and to the point) Anyone else have any thoughts?

I think I can speak for the admin staff, as much as we'd like to make fliers to post around town, I/we are really busy and just don't have the time! With that being said, if anyone had some free time and wanted to play around to design some sample posters, we would love to take a look and most likely would be fine with us (pretty much just need the event info and pricing) and distribute accordingly! :groupwavereversed:
ill see what i can cobble together when i get home from work tonight, maby i can grab one of my friends with artistic talents to draw up something cool
Can't wait to see it!

I signed up. Do you think we could make some flyers and post them at places like Best Buy and EB games? I wonder if there is any other Buffalo specific forums that we could post this at? I also wonder if we could post this around UB? I know there are tons of poster boards that we could run around and through them up on.
if anyone has a design in mind i can print some out and hang them around ECC North and wherever else i happen to find a tackboard

Fun LAN. Definitely see you guys at the next one.
On a side note, I beat the Company of Heroes patching game. The final boss was a wimpy 5mb patch. Some games just don't know how to end with a good boss. Why, 2 of the previous bosses were over 1.7gb! Huge letdown.
Man, I feel so let down... I thought that you would of said that it was still an ongoing battle and you weren't sure if could could make April's patching event! :construction:

I do hope that the issues that you have brought up / found in the beta testing, get addressed by the time the final product ships as they usually do! otherwise that'll sux...

I do actually think this is one of the reasons Apple went with intel cpu's! I also predict soon that Linux users too, will also get their day... All you need is one major game publisher and all the rest will sheepishly follow and that is not always a bad thing!
Source games already run on linux... ...just no steam client.
That is what I was referring to! In a long about kinda way...

@ Scaz - I hope you realize that Jay (Nemesis) and myself like to jest... :construction: and it is all harmless fun! (although, if he took it seriously, my ninja like reflexes would make quick work of him!) :ThanxSmiley:

I'm planning on being there... though Tecboy only bringing 4 chairs for his HUGE a$$ may not be enough!! :harhar:
-- Nem
Better that you sit in Jeff chairs... ...your HUGE A$$ breaks another one of mine you can bring your own muahhaha... @ $25 a pop not cheap and I still can not find another black padded one to match my other 3 and the card table
Nem might be on to something Start charging based on how much you guys weigh!! Hell, I could retire off of Jay's ginormous ass!! Sounds like Jay has epic chair fail!! maybe we can start a betting pool of where and when he breaks the next one??

WarSpartan, I do hear you, but having been to/hosting/or basically having something to do with LAN parties for the last 16 years, the classes that I see are:
1) that some people just really get out to play the "current" games and meet new users (the average user)
2) some will splinter off and do whatever they want to do (WOW, Leaching anyone)
3) some come out to "get away from the missus" I think might be related to #2 (per what "experimental Jason said" of those 75% it would be interesting to see how many of that group are married/have kids/or both and play solo games at lan parties because that is the only time they can?) (Luckily my wifey is not one of THOSE wives!)
4) others just want to come out to see what stuff the others are using.
5) And then there are those who come out to just start crap. Luckily we don't have hardly any of those
Generally, all of us seem to be some ratio of the first four...
I have seen them all and have had confrontations with some (# 5's) in the past. But all in all I really do enjoy going to and or hosting these events (or I must be one hell of a sadist!!)
When I have tried in the past to make an announcement about playing X game at some certain time, there are ALWAYS people who are not ready due to "insert random problem here" and then that just screws up everything... (such as not having X game or latest patches, reboots, hardware problems, etc...) although we seem to manage quite well overall!
I'm not trashing your post at all, just making general observations... about the difficulties of game to player synchronization!
When I host, the posting will have a comment about who wants to play what, and we try to get some of those games in. (although, February's Unreal Tourney 2K4 was a pleasant retro surprise!)
Sorry to ramble on, just my 2 cents
~Tecboy (Jeff)

WNY Gamers Club May Event
in When & Where is the NEXT LAN Party?!?!

We seemed to have developed a sudden cult following to that game! so yeah, I think we'll be playing it... (a bunch of us got it at target for $19.99! each...)
