The 250GB hard drive will be available for $130, while the 120GB drive will drop to $100.

Yes...because the XBox really requires 250GB...I have the 120GB in mine and I'm still not even 50% used even with all of my games installed on it..

Concidering that they are gearing up to make the 360 basically a HD DVR Cable box 250GB will go fast.

By pushing the core temperature down to a nippy -232 degrees Celsius – that's 41.15 Kelvin, or just a handful of degrees above Absolute Zero – the team were able to tweak the processor to run at an FSB of 280MHz and a multiplier of 22.5, giving a whopping 6.3GHz speed across all four cores. This rather impressive feat allowed Team Finland – and AMD, of course – to snatch the world record for benchmarking suite 3DMark 05 with a mind-boggling top score of 45,474.

  3. Steam for the Mac Released

    http://store.steampowered.com/news/3818/

Steam has been a service exclusively for PC users since we launched it in 2004. For the first time we and our partners are bringing it to another platform. It's been a ton of work, but the Mac is great for the same reason the PC is great - they are both open systems that let gamers and game developers be as close as possible.

So check it out. If you have a Mac and are new to Steam, welcome! If you've been with us since the beginning, borrow a Mac and log into your Steam account and jump into a game. And for everybody, Portal is free from today until the 24th.

  4. I'm good for this one, I have this coming Saturday off. You guys seriously playing GTA IV now? Should I pick it up before Saturday?

Also, this totally beats going to my Associate's degree commencement that day. And I'll be 21 :)

We seemed to have developed a sudden cult following to that game! so yeah, I think we'll be playing it... (a bunch of us got it at target for $19.99! each...)

I got a copy of it that am looking to part with for $20 as I ended up buying the complete Rockstar pack on Steam when it was 75% off

  5. Starcraft II to launch on July 27

Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty. The first installment in the three-part sequel will launch worldwide--China excepted--on July 27 for the PC and Mac and will retail for $60 in the US. The game will also be available in a deluxe $100 Collector's Edition that will include a 176-page art book and a flash drive preloaded with the original Starcraft and its Brood War expansion.

Two sequels focusing on those factions--Legacy of the Void and Heart of the Swarm--are also in development.

Eager gamers who preorder the RTS via GameStop will be able to join the ongoing Starcraft II beta. Keep in mind, though, orders cannot be canceled once GameStop sends out the beta key.

  6. That fuel game kinda looks kewl... and it's only $3.74!

That pack is worth it for a few differant games, I would be down for some Grid MP again also and Dirt 2 is a good race game. :)

  7. Researching a build now. And oddly enough ole Toms Hardware says the i5 750's are the best chip right now. Almost as good as the i7's for gaming, and with a little OC they are just shy of being as fast as the $1000 chip. Like wow ! Is there even remotely a need for 6 cores atm ?

6 cores at 4Ghz = BOINC and WCG goodness! :)

  8. AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition Thuban 3.2GHz 6 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor $309.99 Free Shipping

Being a Black Edition processor with an unlocked processor, the 3.2GHz Phenom II X6 1090T turned out to be a good overclocker, hitting 4.165 GHz on all six of those lovely cores, just using air cooling

  9. http://www.macworld.com/article/150837/201...floppydisk.html

Sony, one of a handful of companies that still sells floppy disk media in Japan, will end sales of floppy disks by March 2011 due to dwindling demand.

The Japanese domestic floppy disk market amounted to about 12 million disks last year, of which Sony had a 70 percent share, it said. A 10-pack of Sony 3.5-inch floppy disks costs ¥570 (US$6) at a central Tokyo electronics store.

  10. All in all, I think a good time was had by all!

Who knew that GTA IV would be so hilariously fun! Can't wait to play it in May... It would be awesome to fill a server (the site says it supports 32 players!)

Just ordered a copy from JR.com ($17.99, used Bing Cashback for another 5% off) so it better be good :)

  11. I might get another Intel x25-M G2 160GB to Raid. :groupwavereversed:

"Bahahaha, look at the hard drive scores here: 0.7MB/s and 0.3MB/s? That's freakin' terrible! And that's why your system feels so slow when you start it up, there are a ton of concurrent random reads and writes happening all over the place which your hard drive crunches through at roughly 0.5MB/s. Even the Samsung based OCZ Summit manages a significant performance advantage here."

"The overall PCMark Vantage score takes into account CPU and GPU performance and thus storage performance is only one aspect of determining your score. All of the SSDs do well here, the slowest configuration still around 36% faster than the WD VelociRaptor; something I'd say is more than reflected in real world performance"

"The gaming tests are very well suited to SSDs since they spend a good portion of their time focusing on reading textures and loading level data. All of the SSDs dominate here, but as you'll see later on in my gaming tests the benefits of an SSD really vary depending on the game. Take these results as a best case scenario of what can happen, not the norm."

"The Vantage Gaming Suite shows us our first example of the X25-M G2 pulling ahead of even the SLC X25-E. Even the Samsung based OCZ Summit does very well here."
