  1. I have an opensuse machine that I am setting up for a dedicated server to play tf2, hl2dm, l4d2, and cstrike. I haven't created one before but the server runs and I can join the games.

    Any suggestions or tips?

Forget it. I have enough trouble *Trying* to run my own server... You're on your own!!!

    :-)

I haven't played enough Tf2 or HL2DM to make any suggestions. How about just figure out how to tweak the physics so we can have low-grav, crowbar-only, high-speed matches and such...? I cant think of anything more absurd than flying through a stage with 20% gravity, 175% speed, chasing each other with shock sticks and crowbars...

  2. Its definitely less buggy than before and works fine when used as intended. I tried to set up "SuperTaaank" a mode with 15 Tanks and 1 survivor. It wouldn't take, and crashed after the 15 second respawn time. *Sigh*

Some retro stuff i want to play again...

    1nsane

    Operation Flash Point

    UT

Not Retro but we just don't play

    Grid

Not Retro but we don't play at all because some people dont like hammers....

    Red Faction Guerrilla

  3. And here you had me thinking you're friends with some techie who likes to work for free.... you're just reflowing them? Lame. ;)

Oh, and count on Pat showing up too, but he won't post here. I'm down for the usual stuff, but I want to try that newfangled Lead & Gold game.

Ok ok, i admit, I gave up on the SMT oven because its profile is too aggressive and the two operators agreed that we dont know how the DVI heads will handle the 450F. I cheated and used Alpha 457 RMA flux and an OKI hot air rework tool.

    ~~Geesh, tough crowd...

  4. To all,

I just thought of this so i'll post up here and hope you guys read (and care) before you arrive at Tecboy's... I have got a broken video card and am planning on running it through the reflow oven at work with a non-agressive SMT profile to try and get all the solder remelted and *ideally* fix the card. If you guys have broken video cards or other boards for that matter that are "glitchy" or stopped working without any smoke, bring them and ill send them through as well... No garantee i will fix it... Even if it has smoke, i can take a look and maybe get lucky...

  5. Just about everyone here would be able to get you started. Your best bet may be to stop in on one of the monthly LANs and see what works, what you like, and what you can afford.
