  1. Hey guys :)

I know its been a while since Ive been lan'ing so no idea what folks are into currently.

But for those of you who are interested in the titled games and want to make platoons / lances to play online let me know. I'm currently rolling beta for both of these games and have high hopes for when they are finished and ready for prime time. So far Ive played a bit of Mechwarrior Online and its a great time so far. Even early in the beta with things out of whack even I'm enjoying it overall.

Planetside 2 is probably a ways off, but conceptually it sounds awesome, and the early beta stuff i've done isnt too bad.

If anyone is interested in playing online and voice chatting let me know.

  2. STEAM has a nice sale right now for Modern warfare stuff.

    CoD4 Modern Warfare $14.99

    Cod Modern Warfare 2 $19.99

CoD Modern Warfare 2 Resurgence pack $7.49

Cod Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Pack $7.49

I will probably buy all of these for her and myself.

If there is interest in these I'd be in. Have a birthday party till 6, so wouldn't make it till 7'ish. Save em for the evening time slot gents ;) Or at least dont burn out on them, lol. If any confirm they want to play ahead of time.

As I recall MW2 doesnt have lan games though. Its all matchmaking. You can join off friends and play together against the internetz players, but fighting each other might not work.

CoD4 does however have lan games, and it easy to setup and play that way as well.

I did try the free weekend of Black Ops. It has dedicated servers, but no lan play. So almost the same boat as MW2.

    Let me know.

  3. I've been looking around considering shooters for LANs. Some of the newer ones have been hindered by a lack of LAN support. They end up requiring lots bandwidth to play at a lan due to players having to connect and play through outside servers. More than a handful of players and things can get problematic.

So what are some shooters that people would like to see played or are interested in trying as a regular lan game ? For those of course who still have interest in shooters.

One I tried recently was Breach ... Actually makes for a decent LAN game. Has lan support etc. Online play has a few issues due to bugs.

So throw out some ideas, options, and level of interest. I'd enjoy seeing what people think.

Also if newer shooters just arent worthwhile as a lan feature, lets also expand the idea to include not just newer shooters but any shooters that you'd like to play at a LAN. List you top 3 picks.

Some that are LAN friendly are:

    - CoD4 and CoD5

    - Far Cry 1 and 2

    - Crysis

    - BF2 (original or the free to play would be even better, however I dont know if the ftp has lan type support yet)

    - Is the FEAR free multiplayer have lan ?

    - Team Fortress, I've played almost none of this but is it lan capable ? It's not my style of game but i'd try it.

Bad Company 2 would be great, but its a no LAN game as well. I did hear that there was a private server type setup that allowed you setup a server for LAN play. I havent found it yet. If anyone has this or knows where to grab it let me know. I'd play with that and setup a server for it there was interest.

    Enjoy :)

  4. Sounds good, I can go for some of that. At least I wont have to twiddle my thumbs when the game comes up, ha ha. Is that the server you had been working on at earlier lans I attended ? I believe I got to play a little bit of it. The bugs worked out etc ?

I've been pretty bummed over the current state of big game titles not having any lan play features. A lot of the games I'd love to play just arent feasible for lan settings. I havent purchased a new release fps since Bad Company 2. Seems all shooters of note no longer support lan.

I have dusted off supreme commander 2 from an rts perspective and tried starcraft2, but i am slightly more inclined towards tac shooters still. I wonder if dusting off BF2 would be worthwhile ? I did read that is going to be a free release game soon.

  5. I too have heard these horror stories as well from a group of friends who pre-ordered. And they are big time CoD fans. So for them to knock it - it has to be rough. I'm just staying with Bad Company 2 as I wait for these games to get cleaned up. I'm done being a pre-beta retail tester (and sufferer), lol.

I also want to say "bugger" to the continued lack of LAN support in many of these games. Its honestly why I havent been to LAN's lately. The games I want to play are very poor to play in a LAN environment. Sadness.

  6. Actually I believe you have to get to major patch # 3 before things play like they should have at release. But even then you will have ridiculous hit registry errors that plague the game for another 8+ months after release. To be fixed ever ? LoL Yes I'm looking at you BC2. Since the basic structure and gameplay will be the same as BC2, I see irons predictions as completely realistic.

That being said since that 3rd major patch hit, BC2 is my online game of choice. Before that point...very dicey.

  7. Its starting to get a little sad but I'm now banned from at least 3 servers for doing too well. People are a little kick / ban happy if you own them a bit. I saw DaPoets in a server I was rocking it up in - then suddenly "banned". Why ? Too good. Get to 35-2 or so and folks dont like you no more. Didnt realize you were in there DaPoets till I got rage kicked, he he. I invited you to our skype friends list. Theres a handful of us locally who still get on and play a couple times a week. Hit us up :)

  8. Gateway P-6831FX

Essentially mint condition. I used it as a desktop almost entirely with the occassional LAN trip thrown in. No scratches or blemishes. No dead pixels. Screen colors still as new. Battery's solid.

    Specs:

    http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/2008/GodzillaFX/1015088R/1015088Rsp2.shtml

Upgraded RAM - came with 3 gigs, but I stuck 4 gigs in right away.

Gamewise I've been able to play everything I put on it comfortably, including L4D2, Cod4, MW2, SC2, etc.

I simply dont use it anymore so its time it found a new home.

    $575 OBO.

    Any questions just ask.

    Thanks,

    WarZ / Wayne
