  1. Mommy? Where do noobs come from? The lifecycle of a noob is a complex, beautiful miracle. Fledgling noobs gestate inside small, biometric pods through a series of complicated photosynthetic processes. Once a budding noob has matured through gestation, they climb out of their pod, sit down at a PC, ask a bunch of questions that are clearly in the FAQ, and voila! The Nooblet is born!
  2. Sacred, I use an ATi x1900xtx pciE video card & it's an amazing card. Prior to that, I was running an ATI Radeon 9800 pro AGP. There's a difference between going from AGP to pciE & it's well worth going into pciE. Now, am I saying to go out & buy an x1900xtx?? No, only do that if U can afford to. There's other pciE cards out that offer good performance, so find the one that best suits your needs. AGP is a relic or soon to be, pciE is the way to go. Hope that helps. U missed a HECK of a good time @ the lan on Saturday. I hope to see you @ the Feb lan @ B.Ob's house. -- Nem I know. I wanted to go to the LAN, wife and I went looking at houses then she had to go grocery shopping and I didn't feel well at that time. Something from dinner didn't agree with me I the. Not sure when I can get to a LAN new schedule start next week. I get Thursday and Friday off. The biggest problem that I have is the card I want and the card I can afford are 2 different things. I don't need a card that runns all the games at max settings. My current card is a 6800 GS AGP. Its run all games very well on medium settings. I would like to get a card that will run the give me better performance than the 6800. I will be going PCIE since my AGP board bit the dust. I would love to get an x1950 pro pcie. My wife asks me if I really need to spend 200.00 on a card. I guess not. I am not sure about the 1600 don't like the fact it is only 128 bit and the mem is ddr 2. I been considering 7600 gs or gt would also like an x1800 card but those are scarce now not sure why? I am waiting for the new ati cards to be released soon. I am hoping price will drop on the current cards at that time.
  3. What video cards do you use and how is the performance with the games you play? Is it what you expected bettern then or were you disappointed.
  4. Although nice, that is a lot of $$ to be spending on a system that requires you to get a new video card and not being the most current socket, which is AM2. I know but the cpu and memory are still good. looking at abit and asus they are known for there quality boards. I saw a used Asus board sell for almost 180.00 on ebay recently.
  5. ABIT AT8 32X Socket 939 ATI CrossFire Radeon Xpress 3200 ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail 110.00 or this one ASUS A8R32-MVP Deluxe Socket 939 ATI CrossFire Radeon Xpress 3200 ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail 122.00
  6. SAPPHIRE PC-A9RD580Adv Socket 939 ATI CrossFire Radeon Xpress 3200 ATX AMD CrossFire Motherboard - Retail 69.99 Yesterday this board was 99.99. Is this a decent board. How does the Southbridge chip affect performance. I keep reading the Uli southbridge is superior.
  7. I like the x1950xt w/ the HIS Cooler on it. Those cards tend to have better clock speeds on them due to being more OC'd than the other ones b/c of that type of HSF. at least that's what I've noticed when comparing cards w/ HIS coolers. I would go for that one Sacred, U'll like it. -- Nem I think you are thinking of the Turbo versions of their cards.... I probably am BUT I still say to get that Video Card instead of the other, might as well get all the bang for the buck he plans on spending & since it's not that much higher, that's all the more reason to get it. That's my other 2 cents on this topic :guns9: -- Nem I think the HIS card would be a better buy. The clock speeds onit are higher than the Sapphire.
  8. Anyone have one of these. http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetai...ductCode=326859

  11. Dual 8800GTX's will be over $1000 just in vid cards and that would be the only SLi worth it right now through Vista! Can go CrossFire on the cheap! Thats wayyyyyyyy over my budget. MY current gpu is a 6800 GS I will like to stay around the same performance or a little better. maybe 7800gs or a x1800xt. not sure which would be best way to go. not looking into upgrading right away. Wife told me in a month we will have maybe 250.00 for me.
  12. Thanks for the info but I think it is time I made the switch to SLI.
  13. Anyone have an SLI or crossfire MB they are willing to part with. for a reasonable price. I think I may just go SLI or crossfire now. Then sell my 6800 GS AGP card and after I get my AGP MB back from RMA will also sell that see what I can get for it.
  14. I can't see paying more then 55.00 for a used MB. I have a bid of 22.00 in on a gigabyte board.
  15. damn I can't wait that long without a pc. I am already having NWN2 withdrawal. I have a bid in on a gigabyte board for 22.00
  16. How do you get around the company wanting you to send in your MB for repair first then?
  17. 127.50 Asus A8V Deluxe motherboard - in mint condition! would you pay that much it is in mint condition. plus 8.45 shipping
