Upgrading but after spending a day looking at ideal components Ive given up on the grounds its just too darn expensive. So im looking to do a quite respectable rig in the $1000'ish range. Can be a little over. Honestly I could afford to do a big system but simply cant justify the expense. I wanted to try a small case / mini comp type build :

So been eyeballing microATX boards and the goodies to go with.

After checking out Toms HW I looks like the i5 750 is the way to go.

I was originally looking at the i7 930's.

Any suggestions based on these thoughts ?

I completely agree with getting the i5 750 over an i7....I have the i5 750. I love it, will not look back. By getting the i5 instead of the i7, I saved a boatload of money. I got my entire new computer built, with the exception of the graphics card (which I already had), for under $650 taking into account the combo deals and rebates. I also highly recommend the ASRock H55M motherboard that I've got (picked it out because Tom's Hardware swore by it)...it's small form factor, has a boatload of features, and has been rock-solid stable since I put it together.
